This peaberry coffee comes to us through our partner at Single Origin Coffee and is a complex, sweet and slightly exotic offering that we are absolutely thrilled to offer our customers. When brewing this Tanzania peaberry you’ll enjoy a bright acidity with notes of nectarine and almond butter. If you enjoyed the Kenyan and African coffees we’ve carried in the past, this is a must try and is fabulous brewed using the Aeropress Go.
The rounder shaped peaberry is formed from the rare maturation of one seed per cherry rather than the typical two seeds. These special seeds are meticulously sorted during the milling process for its distinct flavor profiles. The peaberry offers a more complex flavor than normal beans, due in part to the solo seed receiving greater nutrient content. This high nutrient content may play a roll in enhancing the presence of various flavor altering compounds in the bean. The peaberry also produces a fairly sweet cup. The bean has exclusive access to the fruit or cherry while growing, providing an opportunity for enhanced sugar content.
This Tanzania Kilimanjaro Estate Peaberry is sourced from a family-owned estate located in the Karatu district, Tanzania. The lowest and highest elevations in all of Africa are located in Tanzania. The floor of Lake Tanganyika sits 352 meters below sea level while Mount Kilimanjaro towers at 5,895 meters above sea level. Between these commanding landmarks, Kilimanjaro Estate cultivates coffee on the rim of the Ngorongoro crater. The crater is the largest unbroken caldera in the world
and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. More than 25,000 wild animals, including the largest population of lions, make their home within the crater walls.
